Tick Control in Burlington

With 14 different species of ticks in Vermont, most commonly known are the Black-legged Tick (aka Deer Tick) and American Dog Tick. They are typically found hiding in tall grass, wooded areas, or even in trees and shrubs around your yard.

Ninety-nine percent of all tick-borne diseases are caused by the black-legged tick. These creepy crawlers are notorious for transmitting diseases such as Lyme disease as well as other viral tick-borne diseases such as anaplasmosis and babesiosis.

Ticks feed entirely on blood in order to grow and reproduce, so they look to latch onto animals such as deer, mice, dogs & cats, as well as humans.

When to be on the lookout for ticks? You should always check for ticks in spring, summer, and fall when temperatures are above freezing. Peak season for ticks typically occurs in May and June when nymphal ticks are looking for a host and then again in October and November when female ticks are looking for a host before winter.
